Contraindications for Breathwork

The following list includes conditions for which Breathwork is contraindicated. A doctor's consent is necessary for participation in Breathwork if any of these apply to you.

• Cardiovascular disease (previous heart attack, stroke, angina)
• Lung disease/ difficulty breathing
• Uncontrolled high or low blood pressure
• Current/ active cancer
• Risk of psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia
• Glaucoma or retinal detachment
• History or recent aneurysms
• Recent surgery/ injury
• Epilepsy and / or seizure disorder
• Viral or bacterial condition
• Fever
• Pregnancy in the first or third trimester

The following list includes conditions for which the facilitator must be notified prior to the breathwork session. The practitioner may have you modify the breath or position in order to participate.

• Asthma
• Pregnancy
• High blood pressure
• Hiatal hernia
• Diabetes
• History of surgery or Injury
• Panic attacks
• Sleep apnea
• Trauma history
• PTSD 
• Vertigo
• History of fainting
• Active use of recreational drugs or medication that alters brain chemistry- painkillers, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, stimulants, hallucinogens, gummies, etc.
• under the age 18 

Upon registration, you will receive an email with a health history questionnaire where you will be able to disclose any applicable health information.

The following list includes conditions for which Craniosacral Therapy is contraindicated. A doctor's consent is necessary for participation in Breathwork if any of these apply to you.

• Recent brain hemorrhage or stroke
• Recent spinal tap or puncture in the craniosacral system
• Arnold Chiari malformation
• Recent fracture of skull bones, vertebral column or ribs
• Acute concussion (once the injury is post-acute, craniosacral is very supportive in healing process)

There are very few contraindications for Polarity Therapy.  We often work with  clients in active disease and can accommodate hospital beds and home care situations.
